	001	TEXT:“The year is 2016 A.D.”	Mr. Tines: We'd checked the onsen and beach episode boxes, but there was no Christmas episode/New Year's episode, not even of the odd unseasonal snow+presents type that RahXephon later felt obliged to include, to mark the change. The combination of this date, and the frankly inexplicable UX of having a screen in EoE labelled just "2015" (rather than "Now") juxtaposed with one reading "Second Impact" (rather than "2001" which would be consistent) has had some interesting consequences.

	003	TEXT:“In other words, the instrumentality of souls was still ongoing”
	004	TEXT:“However, there is far too little time left to make mention of it all”	UrsusArctos: This holds true even in EoE, where Shinji takes center stage and we see even less of what others go through in Instrumentality.

	010	ASUKA (OFF):“Of ceasing to exist.”	UrsusArctos: The last time we saw a candle in the series was when the power went out in Episode 11. In that episode, Asuka talked about clearing the embers when passing through a fire, while Rei talked about how mankind feared darkness and chipped away at it with fire. Both seem apropos to the image of the lone candle in the darkness.
	011	SHINJI (OFF):“But considering the way I am, I don't think I need to exist.”	Dr. Nick: This recycled shot is here, I believe, to signify that tangification has happened, and Shinji too has again been reduced into a juice box fitting form.
	012	REI:“Why not?”
	013	ASUKA (OFF):“Because I'm not needed.”
	014	SHINJI:“I'm an unwanted child after all.”
	015	SHINJI:“No one cares about what happens to me!”
	016	MISATO:“You're running away by thinking that it doesn't matter.”
	017	MISATO:“You're afraid of failure, aren't you?”
	018	MISATO:“You're afraid that people won't love you, aren't you?”
	019	MISATO:“You're afraid of seeing how weak you are, aren't you?”
	020	SHINJI:“But that's exactly how you are too, Miss Misato!”
	021	MISATO:“That's right, we're all the same.”
	022	RITSUKO:“There's a piece of our hearts missing.”
	023	ASUKA:“That's what we're afraid of.”
	024	REI:“It makes us insecure.”
	025	MISATO:“That's why we're all trying to become one right now.”
	026	ASUKA:“We're trying to make up for it with each other.”
	027	REI:“That is the Instrumentality Project.”
	028	FUYUTSUKI (OFF):“Humans cannot live unless they are in groups.”
	029	IKARI (OFF):“Humans cannot live alone.”
	030	RITSUKO (OFF):“Even though there is only one of you.”
	031	KAJI (OFF):“That's why you suffer.”

	033	MISATO (OFF):“That's why you want to meld your body and soul with someone else's.”
	034	REI (OFF):“You want to become one.”

	039	FUYUTSUKI (OFF):“Humans are made of weak and fragile stuff.”	UrsusArctos: The shattered coffee mug makes a reappearance in End of Evangelion, surrounded by LCL from tanged bodies.
	040	RITSUKO (OFF):“The body and soul are also made of weak and fragile stuff.”
	041	IKARI (OFF):“That is why we must complement one another through instrumentality.”
	042	TEXT:“"Why?"”
	043	IKARI:“Because we cannot live otherwise.”	Dr. Nick: In a more classically heroic narrative, this would be the protagonist's defiant "Speak for yourself!" moment.
