Dr. Nick: Gendo’s "I don't care" is more of his openly villainous dipshittery that pretty much reaches its apex in the next episode with Ritsuko.

And since the Spear is an inhibitor device, it makes sense that Lilith regenerates after it's removed. But an open question remains, why hadn't she regenerated more before the Spear was inserted? Why would an inhibitor device charge her battery so to speak?
