The movie will introduce [[Asuka Langley Soryu|Asuka Langley Shikinami]], [[Ryoji Kaji]], and the new character [[Mari]], along with [[Evangelion Unit-02|Eva-02]], [[Evangelion Unit-03|Eva-03]], [[Evangelion Unit-05|Eva-05]], and [[Evangelion Unit-06|Eva-06]]. At least three [[Angel]]s ([[Sahaquiel]], [[Bardiel]], and [[Zeruel]]) have confirmed appearances, and a new Angel has been rumored<ref>Newtype 2008/12: "New character(s), new mechs, new Angel(s), new conflict. From 1.0 to 2.0, Eva is getting an upgrade."</ref>. New locations will also feature.


A trailer for the second ''Rebuild'' film appeared after the credits of the first ''Rebuild'' film. Amusingly, its structured exactly like the "next episode on Evangelion" segments that ended each episode of the original series, including the same musical theme and a voice-over by Misato.
Eva 2.0 will depart from the original much more extensively than 1.0, with a greater emphasis on new material, although little is known about the plot at this time. Elements from several TV episodes will be present in some form, namely [[Episode 08|Episodes 08]], [[Episode 12|12]], [[Episode 17|17]], [[Episode 18|18]], and [[Episode 19|19]].  


We are told to expect Eva-04, [[Evangelion Unit-03]] ([[Bardiel]]) is briefly seen, a close-up of [[Asuka Langley Soryu]] is briefly shown, as well as [[Evangelion Unit-02]] being air-dropped into battle (perhaps against [[Israfel]] like in the original series).  Shots are shown of what could either be Eva-04 exploding or a flashback to Second Impact.  Then several cryptic shots are shown of multiple vaguely humanoid glowing white figures and the text "ADAMS" is flashed on the screen (all text is flashed in Latin letters), followed by "Lilin+?".  Brief shots are also shown of a "Provisional Eva-05" (not a [[Mass Production Evangelions|Mass Production Eva]]), and the one-eyed Eva-06.  It is said that Eva-06 and its pilot (presumably Kaworu, seen wearing a plug suit) will descend from the Moon.

Finally, a new character is seen from behind, while looking at multiple giant glowing pink crucifixes:  another shot from the front reveals the new character's face from the eyes-up, revealing her to be a brown haired girl wearing glasses (Named [[Mari]] according to the Petite Eva @ School DS game; she may be a new pilot).  The trailer ends with Misato promising (just as in the early episodes of the original series), "...and of course...more fanservice!".

Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance (ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版:破 Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Ha, "Evangelion New Theatrical Version: Breakup") is the second film in the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series.
