Evangelion Mark.06 (エヴァンゲリオンマークシックス, Evangerion Mākushikkusu) is a new Evangelion unit introduced in Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance. It is first seen at the end of Evangelion 1.0 and unveiled in the preview for 2.0 at the end of the same movie.

As initially seen at the end of 1.0, it was called the Moon Giant (月の巨人, tsuki no kyojin). It is present at Nerv's 7th Branch in Mare Tranquilitatis, lying in a large excavation with scaffolding and long stairways constructed around it. The Eva's entire body is covered by a white "rubber cover" with multiple dark seams, generally form-fitting but looser towards the lower body. The purple mask bearing "craters" and the mark of Seele closely resembles Lilith's from the original series, although two stylized "crying eyes" have been added. A shot in Evangelion 2.22 during the placement of the helmet reveals that the "crying eyes" are placed over the Eva's actual eyes.  There is a large, IV-like structure that appears to be connected to the giant's left arm.

The morphology of the head and neck of the incomplete Eva bears a very strong resemblance to Lilith, although the more defined body, along with what appears to be a core visible beneath the fabric, is closer to an Evangelion. The markings on the arms are also visually identical to those associated with Eva "upkeep". A brief glimpse of the (presumably exposed) head in Evangelion 2.22 reveals very dark gray skin.

Most of the cans are decorated with illustrations of the children with their respective Evas, but Kaworu is instead shown with the "Moon Giant", labeled "Confidential". (See image at right.)
Later, the white cover is removed and the Eva undergoes the process of outfitting. The exposed skin on the head is dark gray. Eva-06 descends from the Moon along with its pilot, Kaworu Nagisa, and puts an end to Third Impact at the end of Evangelion 2.0 by using a so-far unseen weapon. It's final coloration is revealed in the preview for 3.0 as blue with yellow trim. It's forehead bears a horn that initially looks similar to Eva-01's but a profile shot reveals that unlike Eva-01's antenna-like horn, the Mark.06's horn is shaped more like a knife, with a groove running across it's entire length. The helmet as a whole is essentially a more angular version of Eva-01's with the eyeholes substituted by a red visor. It's entry plug appears to be designed to provide a noticeably higher field-of-vision for the pilot.
During their reconnaissance to Tabgha Base, Gendo and Fuyutsuki observe that the Eva's construction process is unusual (though it isn't specified how), and that Seele has constructed it in secret to advance their own hidden agenda. Keel Lorenz refers to it as "the true Evangelion", to play a role in fulfilling the covenant with Lilith. Fuyutsuki takes this to mean that Seele "want to create a real god, not just false ones".

Dialogue between Gendou and Fuyutsuki reveals that this Eva was built entirely by SEELE and Nerv had no part in it's creation; it's capabilities are unknown even to them. All that is know is that it uses "unusual construction methods" and is referred to by Lorenz Keel as "the true Evangelion" (shin no Evangerion). As such, it is implied to have capabilities equal or greater to that of a fully awakened Eva-01.
The final armored Eva-06 is a deep blue with yellow trim, with a horned helmet that bears a strong resemblance to Eva-01's, with the eye holes covered by a red visor. The entry plug appears to be designed to provide a noticeably higher field-of-vision for the pilot. In addition to this, the fact that the Eva can levitate and bears a halo while under pilot control hints at extremely potent capabilities.

The red-visored helmet, which conceals two eyes, resembles a samurai's kabuto and bears a horn as per Eva-01's. Eva-06 is portrayed with very exaggerated proportions in the trailer, although this may simply be done "for effect" and not represent the Eva's actual physique.
Eva-06 descends from the Moon along with its pilot, Kaworu Nagisa, and puts an end to Third Impact by using an unknown weapon resembling the Spear of Longinus on Eva-01.

Eva-06 appears to have aerial capabilities and is seen with a halo over its head as it descends.
The preview for Eva 3.0 says that Eva-06 "descends to Dogma" and shows it levitating down a large shaft, reminiscent of Kaworu descending with Eva-02 in Episode 24. This and the accompanying caption suggest that Eva-06 will attempt to reach Lilith, perhaps to initiate the "resurrection" of the giant that Seele say is required to fulfill the covenant.

The Eva's final design may differ from what appears in the trailer.

Profile

Eva-06 under construction at Tabgha Base

Mark.06 was constructed at Nerv's lunar 7th Branch, Tabgha Base. It initially appears unfinished, with its body covered in a rubbery white material[1], and a purple mask bearing the mark of Seele and two stylized "crying eyes" covering its face. The morphology of the head and neck is very similar to Lilith, although the more defined body, along with what appears to be a core visible beneath the fabric, is closer to a normal Evangelion. An IV-like device labeled "BTB" is connected to the Eva's left arm.

Later, the white cover is removed and the Eva undergoes the process of outfitting. The exposed skin on the head is dark gray. The mask remains affixed to the face, but the part over the eyes has been cut away. What looks like a temporary covering is held over the eyes as the helmet is readied for application, as though to avoid "gazing upon the face of God"[2].

Operational History

Eva-06 descends from the Moon along with its pilot, Kaworu Nagisa, and puts an end to Third Impact by using an unknown weapon resembling the Spear of Longinus on Eva-01.
