Volume 14 is the fourteenth and final edition of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's manga adaptation of Neon Genesis Evangelion. It is comprised of 5 stages, an epilogue stage, and contains a bonus stage.
Özet
Stage 91: Where Light Returns
Shinji is convinced, through memories and hallucinations, that Instrumentality will save everyone he cares about from suffering any further and thus wishes Third Impact into existence. Everyone, including Asuka, is turned into LCL by Lilith.
Stage 92: Birthday
As Instrumentality continues, Gendo lies dying. Yue's soul comes to him and helps him to remember the love he once felt for Shinji. Gendo wishes for his son to live on, redeeming himself before passing away.
Stage 93: Sea of Life
In the Sea of LCL, Shinji, with help from Rei, comes to his sense and realizes that Instrumentality is not what he wants after all.
Stage 94: Palms
Shinji makes the choice to reverse Instrumentality, killing Lilith and setting all souls free.
Stage 95: Thank You ∞ Goodbye
Shinji bids farewell to the soul of his mother before reverting to LCL, waiting for the time to be reborn.
Final Stage: The Journey Begins
An epilogue shows humanity having returned from the Sea of LCL, an unknown amount of time later. They have no memory of Evangelion, the Angels, Third Impact or anything related to them. The snow-covered Mass Production Evangelions are considered relics from an unknown time and purpose. Shinji moves from his aunt's home to Tokyo. Shinji and Kensuke are preparing for their high school entrance exams. Shinji meets Asuka for the first time, although he feels that he knows her from somewhere. Shinji's interior monologue is optimistic as he walks forward to the future.
Extra Stage: Eden In Summer
The bonus chapter gives us insights into some of the adults' pasts while at Kyoto University in pre-Second Impact 1998. Three of Fuyutsuki's students (and close friends), Yui, Kyoko, and Mari end up discussing Yui's new beau, Gendo Rokubungi and how she found out what was behind his scowl. The chapter ends with Yui's clumsiness, and a touching scene between Yui and Mari before Mari departs for the U.K.
Notlar ve Referanslar
Yoshiyuki Sadamoto has, stated in an interview that the extra chapter and Mari's inclusion in it should not be seen as a part of the manga's storyline, stating that it was something he purely did for "fun", comparing the chapter to "fanservice".[1] It has been included in the synopses in the interests of completeness for this article.
