	003		UrsusArctos: The way Asuka's face and especially her eyes are drawn here make her look like Nadia.
	004		UrsusArctos: I recognize the Kikkoman soy sauce bottle from its shape. A little bit of product placement, maybe?
	005	MISATO:“Hey, Shin, did you change the soup stock?”	UrsusArctos: Misato strongly resembles an older Usagi here.
	006	RITSUKO:“Yeah, it's a bonito stock. It's a gift from Miss Ritsuko.”
	007	ASUKA:“That was HOT!”	Mr. Tines: It's morning in a dysfunctional household. UrsusArctos: Asuka goes from smiling when she steps out of the shower to instantly outraged. She does have a point there about Shinji's constant apologizing (also a bit of a backslide from Episodes 09, when Shinji was more likely to snap back at Asuka).
	008	SHINJI:“I'm sorry.”
	009	ASUKA:“You always apologize right away, but do you actually feel sorry?!”
	010	ASUKA (OFF):“It's like you apologize automatically so that you don't get yelled at!” SHINJI (OFF):“I'm sorry.” ASUKA (OFF):“Exactly like that. You're just fundamentally too self-deprecating!” MISATO:“Now, now, that's just his way.”	Mr. Tines: While I don't envy Misato's position here, her attempts at parenting are wrecking the squadron she commands. Fraternization between the ranks isn't helping either.
	011	ASUKA:“Just his way?! You're being too soft on him! Haven't you been a little too soft on Shinji lately?”	UrsusArctos: Elements of Misato's beer-guzzling animation merged with Asuka's famous finger-pointing. Asuka usually doesn't act this forthright against Misato, so she's really riled up.
	012	MISATO:“Have I?”
	013	ASUKA (OFF):“Maybe you and Mr. Kaji have hooked up again, but don't project your happiness on other people!” MISATO (OFF):“There's nothing between Kaji and me.”
	014	KAJI (PHONE - OFF):“Hey, Katsuragi, I've found a bar that serves a decent drink. How about tonight? Bye!”	UrsusArctos: Perfect timing to embarrass Mitchan, as usual, Ryoji old chap!

	016	ASUKA:“Sure, I've never been involved in an indecent adult relationship!”	UrsusArctos: The cold open of Episode 22' turns the tables - and accusations of hypocrisy - squarely back on Asuka.
	017	ASUKA (OFF):“And here you're acting like a proper guardian?! You hypocrite!”

	024	MISATO:“Shut up! Well, how's the Third Child doing?” IBUKI:“Take a look.” MISATO:“Let me see.”

	026	MISATO:“I hope that knowing this will boost his confidence.”
	027	MISATO (OFF):“Can you hear me, Shinji?” SHINJI:“Miss Misato, how were my test scores?”

	029	MISATO (OFF):“Yes! You are Number One!”	UrsusArctos: I love the way Mitsuishi says "You are number one" in English! dzzthink: Shinji shows a moment of joy and recognition. He is gaining confidence from the praise for his somewhat 'innate' synchronization. This serves as a dichotomy for the next events, where he is confronted by his weaknesses and inner thoughts.
	030	ASUKA (OFF):“Oh, man! He beat us so easily.”	dzzthink: This is an example of taking your work home with you. Even after taking off the plug suit, Asuka's thoughts still focus on performance compared with the Eva pilots. Her jealousy even leads her to confide with Rei as if expecting some kind of support and agreement from her imagined worst enemy. UrsusArctos: On top of that Asuka knows perfectly well that Rei doesn't care about this sort of thing, and Asuka herself would never admit to seeking sympathy from anyone else. That she should want support from Rei shows just how desperate she is after losing her top place.
	031	ASUKA:“To be honest, getting beat that easily”
	032	ASUKA (OFF):“is a little frustrating, don't you think?”
	033	ASUKA:“He's amazing, wonderful, awesome, too awesome! The great invincible Shinji!”	Mr. Tines: And it's all downhill from here. Dr. Nick: In a Gundam setting this would be Oldtype angst.
	034	ASUKA (OFF):“This just means we get to take it easy now, right?”
	035	ASUKA:“But I guess we should at least do our best not to be left behind.”
	036	REI:“Goodbye.”
	037		thewayneiac: My brother-in-law understood Eva on his first viewing better than anyone else I know. The day I showed him Eps. 15 and 16 he said at this point, "Of course, she's actually pissed because he wouldn't kiss her."

	042	SHINJI:“All right.”	dzzthink: This shows Shinji riding on the high of his recent test scores, as he ponders the purpose of his role as an Eva pilot. In this scene, he resolutely clenches his fist with determination, building himself up for future success.
	043		UrsusArctos: Yep, the kids have it right - Shinji looks ridiculous acting the hero at the back of the bus, and their reaction snaps him out of it.
