Her jealousy even leads her to confide with Rei as if expecting some kind of support and agreement from her imagined worst enemy.
UrsusArctos: On top of that Asuka knows perfectly well that Rei doesn't care about this sort of thing, and Asuka herself would never admit to seeking sympathy from anyone else. That she should want support from Rei shows just how desperate she is after losing her top place.
