LCL & Electricity

"The LCL is formed into the constituent elements that compose the vessel by being electrolysed": The cited statement doesn't directly support this; it's entirely speculation, and I don't think it can really be substantiated.

Just on an aside, writing "AT Field/ego border/edge of the mind/self-image" is unnecessary. Synonyms for "A.T. Field" would be in ATF's article. Just call it an ATF here. --Reichu 23:55, 7 February 2008 (PST)

Souls & LCL

"Souls then intersect with LCL, and by a process that Aoba calls "self-formation of LCL"[1], they form a vessel that is shaped by the soul using the AT Field/ego border/edge of the mind/self-image. When the soul leaves the vessel the vessel collapses back into the state of LCL[2]." -- This is a little bothersome, since it makes it sound like vessels forming out of LCL is "normal". In NGE, this is only under very unusual circumstances. It's not like the body of life Lilith established use Doors of Guf and LCL to make their own babies. --Reichu 00:14, 8 February 2008 (PST)

Unsorted Discussion

Editor's note: This soul/A.T. Field/Vessel/PWM etc. is tricky because you really cannot discuss one without veering into the others. Should we find a way to integrate all of these into one page? Perhaps under a heading like "NGE meta-biology" or something like that...

I think that a brief article like this one is acceptable. Then link to the appropriate section of a longer "Meta-biology" article for the excruciating details. Just don't have detailed discussions of of the more "Quantum Magic" aspects of the show in multiple articles. --thewayneiac Aug. 15, 2007 14:08 EDT.
The trick is probably to think of what is directly relevant to a specific term. There will be some overlap here and there, but, if we are very clever, more unique material will be on each page than not. I say "wing it" for now, and make up links to prospective T&A pages if it feels appropriate. --Reichu 14:57, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
This is kinda bugging me. Because all of this stuff overlaps I strongly feel there needs to be some all encompassing page or link where someone can find all of these ideas. Perhaps in a re-do version of the Encyclopedia page something akin to "NGE Meta-biology" that links to one article explaining all of these under one page. I really don't feel that, currently, terms like A.T. Field, Soul, PWM, vessel, etc. are big enough to warrant their own page. This might change with editing and additions, but I'm thinking that perhaps this could all be moved to one page instead of being scattered around. Or, if we do not go as far to merge them all into one page, I suggest we atleast create some kind of main page where these subjects can be easily accessed together. I really do not like the random "strewn about" nature of several concepts that are all so strongly related.--Eva Yojimbo 07:27, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
How do the Rei clones hold themselves apart without a soul, without an A.T. Field? Or are they made of PWM? And why don't human remains go splat in real life when the body is dismembered and the soul flies off? Is every cell in a human body defined by the soul? Metaphysical biology and common sense be damned, this is one of the parts of NGE that doesn't hold up to logic.
One more thing, how do Evas generate A.T. Fields? If the A.T. Field is the light of the soul, why do Evas generate Angel-like fields when the soul inside is Lilim? Or does generating a physical field have something to do with being made of PWM?
--UrsusArctos 08:49, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
@Rei clones and PWN - Yep.
@Dismembered human bodies: I've wondered the same thing. NGE, not hold up to logic? ::O
@Evas - "Made of PWM = Uber ATF" seems to work pretty well, all things considered. --Reichu 09:00, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
So "Particle Wave Matter" is "particle wave matter"? Are we sure about that? --Eva Yojimbo 10:32, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
Yes. You don't see something like "dark matter" treated as a proper noun. --Reichu 14:49, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
Also, see the metaphysical biology article if you want to extol at length on the dynamics between these various items, and maybe create some kind of "central hub". These items will need separate articles; it just may not seem that way until we really flesh the various concepts out completely. --Reichu 14:53, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
I'll work on this either later tonight or tomorrow. I'll try to figure out what needs to be on the "main" page and what needs to go on the specific pages.--Eva Yojimbo 14:56, 18 August 2007 (EDT)

Citation

I need thoroughly explained sourced and citations for this article. --V 18:55, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

I openly proclaim thievery as most of this material I've come to know only through the Great Mistress herself. IOW, ask Reichu. Most of what is said can be verified at different parts in the series, though I cannot think of anything right of the bat.--Eva Yojimbo 07:27, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
If you make a statement that sources directly to some episode of the series, you can just put the source episode in brackets after the statement. "Rei is a big fan of carrots [XX]." --Reichu 14:49, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
Problem is that I can recall many ideas but it's rare I can remember where they came from (it's a quirk of mine).--Eva Yojimbo 14:56, 18 August 2007 (EDT)

You should really call it "Particle wave matter", linking to the article, instead of using the abbreviation "PWM"; this would confuse noobies we're trying to educate, and is also more convenient. --V 10:08, 7 February 2008 (PST)
