Since many will not have to patience to read through everything before diving in (tsk, tsk!), here are some things you absolutely must know:

• Check the forum regularly — and participate in the discussions. This cannot be emphasized enough!
• Discussion Pages
• Always sign your name. You do this by entering --~~~~.
• If you are writing a response, indent it by using one or more colons.
:If it's the first response, it might look like this. (Though the colon wouldn't ordinarily be visible.)
::More colons will provide a deeper indentation. Try it out later.
• If you are starting a new topic, create a new heading for it. Otherwise, things become a jumbled and incoherent mess that someone else has to sort out. (Learn about Headings in MediaWiki Boot Camp.)
• Review the Standards & Conventions before working on articles. This will save everybody a lot of unnecessary hassle.
• MediaWiki doesn't recognize ordinary line breaks: You can't skip a single line by hitting Enter. This must be done with code. Use
(alternatively
, but the other one seems to be preferred for some reason).
