UrsusArctos: Well, Asuka does seem to embody a number of elements of traditional Japanese masculinity and the "hot-blooded ace pilot" stereotype, in addition to being somewhat unhappy with certain elements of female biology. She hates her periods and [want to be a mother]. It does make me wonder if she ever wished she were biologically male, but I don't think I've heard that particular discussion come up.
