Dummy Plugs

I'm seriously considering the usage of these things during activation. What say you? Nuclear Lunchbox (talk) 19:35, 20 March 2014 (EDT)

No. Seele had the Kaworu dummy plugs, and Gendo didn't get his Rei dummy plug line operational until Episode 18. That thing has been described as a crude substitute for a human pilot. It makes no sense. Also, get your unit designations right. This entire article needs to be cleaned up thoroughly. Furthermore, the activation test seems to have been performed for Eva-00, and by extrapolation, Eva-02. Eva-01 never had a pilot and was never tested, and Shinji was tossed into it and sent into battle when it was practically in "mint" condition. --UrsusArctos (talk) 21:19, 21 March 2014 (EDT)
On the line of the dummy plugs being used by Seele, they must have been developing them on their own to be able to use them by 25'. As to the fact that they are "crude substitutes", the Eva isn't trying to perform complex gymnastics while balancing an egg on its face- it just needs to boot up. If the plug can simulate a pilot in any form, that's all it should need to do. Nuclear Lunchbox (talk) 20:54, 22 March 2014 (EDT)

Activation (general)

It seems that Ursus and I are in contention over what the activation test actually does. From what I've observed, the whole mess only seems to be necessary the first time an Evangelion is booted up, and ONLY the first time (unless it was fully deactivated.) Even when the Evangelions have sustained severe damage, even to the point of shutting down on their own, the test isn't performed again. Also, when the Eva-00 is coming online for the first and second time, there's some sort of "energy threshold" being crossed. This seems to be a reference to the activation energy required for chemical reactions to occur. If it was just to see if the Evangelion could turn on, all the advanced monitoring and moving the Evangelion to a separate location should not have been necessary. As evidence, I'd like to submit Evangelion Unit-03; we know it was not activated before it was brought to Matsushiro. I won't change the edits that have been made now, but I do think these points need to be considered. Nuclear Lunchbox (talk) 20:53, 22 March 2014 (EDT)

Bardiel

The thing was hiding in a thundercloud and infected the Eva as it flew through it. How does this not count as "before"? The wiki page even says Bardiel revealed itself, implying it was already there. Nuclear Lunchbox (talk) 12:39, 23 March 2014 (EDT)

Bardiel got aboard the Eva during the flight through the thundercloud, but it actually revealed its presence and infected the Eva during the activation test. It's in the same sense that you could carry a dormant disease in your system and show no symptoms until the pathogen responsible activates and infects you. I could change the wording to make that less confusing. --UrsusArctos (talk) 13:18, 23 March 2014 (EDT)
