Evangelions can apparently be outfitted with several different sets of armor "equipment":
In the Show
B-Type Equipment
B Type Equipment |
Standard Evangelion armor. Unsuited for use in combat underwater, or in extreme conditions.
D-Type Equipment
Used in Episode 10; a giant diving suit filled with coolant tubes which allows an Eva to be lowered into the magma of an active volcano, serving to protect it from extreme heat and pressure. Used in conjunction with a pressurized plugsuit for the pilot.
In other Media
F-Type Equipment
Only seen in ANIMA, resembles an ornate, if bulky samurai armor suit which the Eva wears, sort of copying the ornate styles of armor from other anime series.
Although the Eva lose agility due to the weigh of the armor, it compensate by the armor ability to project the A.T. Field like a short burst, enhancing the Eva jumps and sprints.
G-Type Equipment
Specialized sniper equipment fitted to Eva-01 in Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0. Used in conjunction with the Positron Sniper Rifle in Operation Yashima.
S-Type Equipment (Aerial Recon)
S-Type Equipment, notice the modified arm fins. |
Specialized equipment for aerial raid. It consists of what looks like a giant jetpack fixed on the Evangelion shoulder in the place of the shoulder pylons and modified arm fins, presumingly for direction. Eva-02 is seen in Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0 dropping from a flying wing and carrying an Electromagnetic Crossbow to attack the Seventh Angel.
