Mother deceased. It is secretly known by NERV that Touji is an EVA pilot candidate.

Touji's sister is injured during Shinji's battle with Sachiel. Touji blames Shinji and beats him mercilessly. They later become good friends. Touji's best friend is Aida Kensuke.
