Evangelions can apparently be outfitted with several different sets of armor "equipment":
In the Show
- B-Type Equipment - standard Evangelion armor.
- D-Type Equipment - used in Episode 10; a giant diving suit filled with coolant tubes which allows an Eva to be lowered into the magma of an active volcano, serving to protect it from extreme heat and pressure. Used in conjunction with a pressurized plugsuit for the pilot.
In other Media
- F-Type Equipment - only seen in manga, resembles ornate (and frankly impractical) samurai armor suit which the Eva wears, sort of copying the ornate styles of armor from other anime series.
- G-Type Equipment- Specialized sniper equipment fitted to Eva-01 in Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0. Used in conjunction with the positron rifle in Operation Yashima.
- S-Type Equipment (Aerial Recon)- Mentioned in the Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0 promotional poster. Eva-02 is seen in the trailer at the end of 1.0 dropping from a flying wing and carrying what looks like a giant jetpack with wings on her back, presumably this piece of equipment.
