Trains in Evangelion

While Neon Genesis Evangelion has always had a special relationship with Warships and features a variety of Real World Vehicles, the series also has a small but noticeable connection to trains. Trains form a key part of everyday life for a large part of Japan's population, and this is reflected in a subtle but persistent manner in Evangelion, whether in the form of the Train Motif Symbolism or in the naming of Hikari Horaki and her sisters. This page is meant to be a small collection of references to train-based character naming around the Horaki family and the occasional appearance of real-world trains in the Evangelion franchise.

One of the key trains that turns up in Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 is the KuMoHa42 single-car electric train, which also appears in Anno's live-action film Shiki-Jitsu.
