Neon Genesis Evangelion(franchise)
Neon Genesis Evangelion (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン) is a Japanese media franchise crated by Hideaki Anno and owned by Studio Khara. The majority of the franchise revolved around an apocalyptic mecha story, but there are also several differences between later works.
The franchise began with the Sadamoto manga, which started publishing in 1994. The franchise started to gain serious steam, influence, attention and popularity with the release of the TV series, the story of which was continued in Evangelion: Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion. The popularity of these works resulted in Studio Gainax, their original owner, into producing various supplemental material, therefore effectively creating the Evangelion franchise. Those works included video games, mangas, radio dramas and pachinko machines. Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time and has estimated total USD revenue of 16,6 billion dollars, being higher-grossing than The Simpsons, Pac-Man, Star Trek, Minecraft and the DCEU to name a few.
