tr:Thumbnail Theater
A very popular (former) feature at the website of Jeremy Parish, a.k.a. Toasty Frog. With edgy wit and no mercy whatsoever, he deconstructed the episodes of NGE (along with various other things, like the Star Wars prequels, Metal Gear Solid, Akira, Princess Mononoke, and Ghost in the Shell) into simple dialogues where each character was represented by a small thumbnail accompanying his lines. The treatment of NGE could essentially be summarized in three words: “Shinji, you suck.” Incredibly funny stuff, and a must-see for both lovers and haters of the show. Unfortunately, in typical Parish fashion — heedless of the countless voices that would scream out in agony and loss as a result — the Thumbnail Theatres and everything else on the site we had known and loved were utterly obliterated in an early-2005 update of the Toasty Frog site.
Update: At some point thumbnail theater was restored to the site and is there now, though it seems to have been done somewhat reluctantly.
