This is a list of the warships in the show, including those that characters in the show have been named after. Not meant to be overdone, but enough for a fan to appreciate the history behind the name and perhaps learn some more. IJN Aoba

(Namesake of Shigeru Aoba)

IJN Akagi

(Namesake of Ritsuko and Naoko Akagi) Akagi is one of the most famous japanese warships ever built, serving as Admiral Chuichi Nagumo's flagship during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The Aircraft Carrier Akagi was originally built as a battlecruiser, but she and her sister ship Amagi were converted to aircraft carriers following the 1923 Washington Naval Treaty, which brought restrictions upon the size and tonnage of warships in all major navies in the world.

IJN Ayanami

(Namesake of Rei Ayanami) Ayanami was the first of the Ayanami class, or Fubuki Type-II destroyers. (To be expanded and put in layman's terms later, along with all the rest)
