- "Arael then targeted Asuka in Eva-02 with a special beam which psychically attacked Asuka.": Intimations are that Eva-02 was targeted first. "LCL barrier not working", "Don't allow feedback from Eva." And, as we see, Kyoko's soul "shut itself away" after this. From Arael's POV, there was just an Eva down there; she couldn't have feasibly found out about Asuka until after hacking Kyoko.
