The "good ol' days" appeared to be officially over towards the end of August 2005, when commentator thewayneiac began to mourn the forum's death. Aside from an intense spike in activity at the beginning of 2006 -- in large part due to Reichu briefly going off her nut, but we won't talk about that... -- nothing much has really happened. A lot of old favorites have either vanished, gone irregular, or become lurkers. Many of those who were "left behind" ended up taking their business over to EMF -- which wasn't a terribly big step. Not that ANF doesn't still have "its uses".

Fora, board, mailing list, and newsgroup where NGE nerds convene online. Since the golden era of Evangelion fandom is apparently far behind us, most of the places that used to be huge hangouts are either total dead zones or mere shadows of their former selves.

AnimeBoards: Blah blah blah yakkity schmakkity.

Anime-forums: Also known as A4. Serious discussion in their Evangelion forum has dropped to almost non-existent.

AnimeNation Forums: "ANF". The popular anime-centered forum community of www.animenation.com. Over the years, its "Evangelion" subforum has been a great place to talk Evangelion and was, during its Golden Age (possibly starting Summer 2003), arguably the best NGE community on the Internet. It saw the birth of the Commentary Project, and the vast amount of discussion that has been generated there (or by the associated people, in general) acts as the heart and foundation of everything FGC.
some of this needs to be parsed out into a "project origins" page

The "good ol' days" appeared to be officially over towards the end of August 2005, when commentator thewayneiac began to mourn the forum's death. Aside from an intense spike in activity at the beginning of 2006 -- in large part due to Reichu briefly going off her nut, but we won't talk about that... -- nothing much has really happened. A lot of old favorites have either vanished, gone irregular, or become lurkers. Many of those who were "left behind" ended up taking their business over to EMF -- which wasn't a terribly big step. Not that ANF doesn't still have "its uses".

Due to the ANF admins' big thing for pruning, if noteworthy material hasn't already been Sent To The Next Dimension, it's standing on Death Row, thus necessitating a makeshift archive (to which more will be added over time).

The Evangelion Mailing List: Blah blah blah yakkity schmakkity.

Eva Monkey Forums. "EMF". Although an "Eva"-exclusive forum with Reichu as a mod (always a good thing, right? …right?) and notable member overlap with ANF, it doesn't see as much activity and suffers from some problems, like frequent downtime (due to some unfortunate technicality), a rather fragmented layout, and an emoticon selection that stinks like a Vogon's armpit. On the plus side, you can actually use curse words and mention things like Amazon and E-bay, and there is no thread culling!
Needs to be reworked considering it has overcome ANF in recent times. Well, it had before it went offline again...

japan.anime.evangelion: Blah blah blah yakkity schmakkity.

Madman: Aussies, etc., etc.

rei-ayanami.com: A.k.a. asuka-langley-sohryu.com, a.k.a. THAT BOARD.

Trivial Being: Blah blah blah yakkity schmakkity.
