From this sequence, we have what is basically a demonstration of what would be Instrumentality in End of Evangelion. UrsusArctos: Indeed, even the soundtracks that follow are linked to Instrumentality - both the TV version and End of Evangelion. Although Episode 16 started the trend of psychologically analyzing characters, this is where things really get rolling.

They are the targets of the Evas and Nerv.” TEXT:“Enemy (repeated)”	Mr. Tines: The snake of light in the sky looks like an flash-forwards a few episodes rather than being one of Shamshel's whips. UrsusArctos: It looks like it came from this cut, minus Eva rather than being a flash-forward to Armisael.

If you're going through a fire, you've got to brush away the embers, of course!”	Mr. Tines: This seems like something we haven't seen before; And this is a rare instance of eye-in-pyramid imagery that the series almost cries out for. UrsusArctos: The first image is a rare clear image of Sandalphon's hand from Episode 10, which was blurred and obscured by poor lighting. Asuka's quote about brushing away the embers goes well with Matarael's eye-in-the-pyramid imagery, both of them coming from Episode 11.
