Talk:Mass Production Evangelions
Things to Mention?
Mention T&A regarding MP souls, orgasms, and the idea of Seele wanting to use them as vessels for themselves. Yay or nay?--Szmitten 12:33, 17 August 2007 (EDT)
- ...er, not right now; start it on End of Eva. --V 15:29, 17 August 2007 (EDT)
- Start what?
- This misconception about MP Evas having no souls can be mentioned here. Not quite sure what you intend to say about the second, and the third... ummmm... --Reichu 15:33, 17 August 2007 (EDT)
Regeneration
Jimbo: "...allowing them to regenerate even after they are defeated": Oh dear. Isn't this a Big Stinkin' Misconception? I'm removing it unless you can provide adequate persuasion otherwise. ::p --Reichu 09:02, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
- It states in the CI that the S² is the source of the Angels' regenerative abilities, so why is that not true for the MPEs? Just as many Angels slowly regenerate after being stopped by other means, they are able to regenerate (Israfel springs to mind).--Eva Yojimbo 10:19, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
- It's because the harpies never really regenerate. They're still beat-up and mutilated when they kill themselves. --Reichu 14:56, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
- According to Maya they "reactivated". And I think it's made pretty darn clear that Asuka did enough to reasonably "kill" any of them. If they are not regenerating in the least bit then I see no logical reason for their continuing to function. 'Tis okay either way. I don't feel it's a major plot point.--Eva Yojimbo 15:09, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
- Asuka didn't exactly do a lot in some cases. I mean, chopping off the lower leg? ::p Eva-02 lost her lower leg in that volcano, and the only thing that happened was Asuka got pissed off. Many elements of the harpy battle fall apart on closer examination; you need to fanwank to justify why Seele didn't just wait a few minutes to sortie their flying monkeys in the first place.
- We get continuity errors ahoy (i.e., their injuries briefly disappear for a couple of cuts while they rip Eva-02 apart and such; and later reappear in various forms), but there's no actual regeneration to speak of. "Reactivation" =/= "regeneration". --Reichu 15:49, 19 August 2007 (EDT)
Construction
What's our source for saying they were built in 7 countries around the world? I mean I heard the phrase "built by the G8 countries" bandied about alot, but I don't know the source. --V 13:01, 19 August 2007 (EDT)
- Here's the dialogue from ep. 22':
- MISATO:
- Construction of Evas up through Unit 13 has begun?
- In seven different locations around the world?
- MISATO:
- Even here, we're getting Germany to give us parts
- from Unit 05 and 06 that are being built there.
- --Eva Yojimbo 13:17, 19 August 2007 (EDT)
- Any word about the G7/G8 or none? Okay. --V 19:34, 19 August 2007 (EDT)
- We know from E07 that one was made in China (Eva-08). Eva-05 and Eva-06 were made in Germany. The rest are unknowns, but probably involve the only countries we know are powers within Seele: Matsushiro Installation, First Branch (Mass.), U.K., Franch, and Russia. --Reichu 13:02, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- How do we know that? I went over the scene in the plane, and Gendo is just referring to a nondescript "Man" and it doesn't really mention what countries they're referring to. --V 19:09, 21 August 2007 (EDT)

S2 Engine Problem
"They were also given individual S² Engines, removing the need for umbilical cables or batteries, and allowing them to keep fighting even after taking what would normally be considered fatal damage.": Correct on the first part. The second part has nothing to do with an unlimited power source, far as I can tell; feasibly, that has more to do with the "you no trash my core, I no die" technicality, and the fact that the harpies aren't being controlled by anyone Seele has to worry about incapacitating or killing via sympathetic pain / vicariously transferred damage. --Reichu 15:53, 19 August 2007 (EDT)
Pictures of each of the nine
Over time, I want to have a section where we have pictures of each of the nine MP Evas, after they have sustained battle damage from the Eva 02 fight. We don't know what number corresponds to which one (i.e. is the one-armed one "Eva 13"?) but it would be fun just to be able to point to all of them....even make up our own nicknames? ^_^ "That one we call "Stumpy", that fellow we call "Spike"...for obvious reasons...and I call the big one "Bite-y".
- Fun Production Drawing -- not as if this was followed with any kind of consistency, though. (BTW, is it just me or is a big space appearing after external links?) --Reichu 20:20, 19 August 2007 (EDT)
- (V salivates like an MP Eva) Excellent....That's just what external links look like. Btw, did you ever make up "pet names" for them based on battle damage. My friends and I kind of do (the "Spike" one is a favorite) --V 20:22, 19 August 2007 (EDT)
- Huh, now that I think about it, the little "external link" image hasn't been showing up for me ever since I switched skins. <_< BTW, now that you have that image, you need to change the notes claiming "we don't know which Eva is which". Various supplemental materials also go into which one is which (two off the top of my head are the Renewal booklet and Chronicle).
- Never made up pet names, I don't think. I never liked them that much; they're lucky they got as much as much as "harpies". (wink) I ought to make a "harpy continuity error" gallery whenever I feel like wasting an inordinate amount of time...
- I'm going to load this image to this page: please, can you get a full translation of all of the nots on it?--V 20:17, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- I don't think they're actually that interesting. It just describes the nature of the injuries ("right arm severed", "left leg severed", "base of the throat" this, "backbone" that, "10 needles" over there...), and making out scribbly kanji (and, to a lesser degree, kana) is a painful to impossible task for me, except in the rare cases where I know what I'm looking at. --Reichu 20:41, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
"Mass Production Evas apparently contain several times their dry body weight's worth of blood, at high pressure." --I did indeed mean that as a joke ^_^ --V 23:56, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
Nine
"In what might be just a coincidence, in the apocalyptic battle at the climax of The Lord of the Rings, the most powerful units of Mordor's evil army are the Nine Nazgul, mounted on winged beasts...": Neeeeeerd. ;;p I always thought there were nine just so that they could conveniently form the ten Sephiroth with Eva-01, myself. (Gawd knows what they would have done if there were twelve as planned. Share?) --Reichu 13:02, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- "(Gawd knows what they would have done if there were twelve as planned. Share?)" "the idea of Seele wanting to use them as vessels for themselves"--Szmitten 20:25, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- Aiya Eärendil Elenion Ancalima! Hey, one day I hope the guys at Weta who built the frelling live-action Nine Nazgul will read through our stuff for reference as they are building the live-action CGI models for the MP Evas. -_^ --V 20:38, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- Why would the Seele people want to use harpies as vessels for themselves? --Reichu 20:41, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- Er, judging by the way the Seele dudes weren't "in" the MP Evas when Third Impact happened, and they seemed happy with the outcome, I don't think the "they were to be vessels for the souls of the Seele dudes" theory holds up. --V 20:42, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
Who threw the Spear?
"Thus (unless Eva 02 attacked it more "off screen"), it was probably Eva Unit 08 that threw the Spear which took out Eva 02." Oh no, not this... >_<
In all probability, it threw itself. --Reichu 15:16, 21 August 2007 (EDT)
