	148	ASUKA:“Not bad! I didn't know you played.” SHINJI:“I've been studying since I was five, and this is all I can do, so I don't really have any talent.”	Mr. Tines: When Shinji is doing something that is entirely outside their duties as pilots, Asuka is able to recognise an accomplishment, because it's one that's not threatening to her status. Shinji's response then undercuts what he has been doing -- and any prestige it might have earned him. UrsusArctos: Despite Shinji's fundamentally self-deprecating response, Asuka doesn't seem to be put off until she hears why he persevered in the first place. And it turns out that his musical accomplishment is quite significant. He's playing Bach's Suite No. 1 Prelude in G major, BWV 1007, an extremely challenging piece. If he'd been in a different world, I'd say he had a very promising career as a cellist ahead of him!
	149	ASUKA (OFF):“Perseverance is power. I'm a little impressed.” SHINJI (OFF):“I started studying because my teacher told me to, so I could have quit anytime.” ASUKA (OFF):“Then why did you keep going?”

	151	ASUKA:“I should have known!” SHINJI:“You came back early. I thought you'd have dinner too.”

	153	ASUKA(OFF):“So, while he was waiting in line for the roller coaster, I left.” SHINJI:“That doesn't seem too nice.”	UrsusArctos: Shinji sticks to doing something he doesn't think much of for years because nobody told him to stop, while Asuka quickly decides she doesn't like someone for whatever reason and dumps him in no time. Remove the Evangelions from the picture, and their thought processes are so different that I find it hard to imagine them having any reason to be with each other.
