Frogatr: What a ghastly mouth Sandalphon has for such a cute outward appearance. (In my opinion of course, lookit his googly eyes!)
UrsusArctos: Sandalphon is based off the ancient predator Anomalocaris canadensis, whose fossil remains were dug up in the Canadian Burgess Shale. The mouth, wrongly associated with Anomalocaris, has since turned out to belong to another species, Peytoia nathorsti, but this is completely accurate to the state of scientific knowledge in 1995. Somebody on the Evangelion staff loved prehistoric animals, and yes, both the ghastly mouth and googly eyes really existed hundreds of millions of years ago!
