Useful Trivia
"We've seen it. The proof of its construction was very useful." |
This is a page for trivial but useful information about the Evangelion TV series, Rebuild of Evangelion, and, if necessary, other elements of the Evangelion franchise. It has been created upon user suggestion.
End of Evangelion credits
The credits for the video releases of Episodes 25' and 26' are different from those in the theatrical version of End of Evangelion. The End of Evangelion has Thanatos - If I Can't Be Yours (vocal version of Thanatos) between 25' and 26'. The text is orange in a twisting single-helix pattern scrolling upwards.
Video version of 25', otherwise, consists of credits only for "Air" part. It has a falling red "snow" background with text scrolling straight upwards. The background audio is of Thanatos (Short Version). And, finally, video version of 26' has a falling white "snow" background with text scrolling straight upwards. The background audio is of Jesu Bleibet Meine Fruende (strings version). It consists of credits solely for Magokoro wo Kimi ni.

Episode 20's continuity error
In a straightforward continuity error, Shinji's plugsuit is seen floating inside the Entry Plug, when Shinji remained in his school uniform in the previous episode. Ritsuko's line, "His mental self-image is pseudo-substantiating his plugsuit" is present neither in the screenplay nor the storyboard, meaning it was probably added in a later stage when the continuity error was noticed. The Netflix subtitle translation renders this non-literally as the more sensible sounding "His mental self-image is manifesting a facsimile of his plug suit". Thanks to Captain Crooks for bringing attention to this here
Misato's cross
Misato's cross appears with a different hole in NGE and EoE. While in NGE the cross had a side hole, in EoE the hole is frontal.
Voice Acting
Megumi Hayashibara voices Rei, Yui, Unit-01, Pen-Pen, Asuka's adoptive mother, and a couple of minor background characters.
Besides voicing Asuka, Yuko Miyamura also voices a couple of background characters throughout the show.
Operation Yashima in real life
Operation Yashima, the plan to reroute all of Japan's electricity into a single sniper rifle to take down an Angel ([episode 6], was the name given to a Twitter campaign to support Tokyo Electric's plan to conserve electricity after the 2011 disasters.[1]
Original opening
According to liner notes from Refrain of Evangelion, Anno's original intent was to use a piece of the Polovtsian Dances for the opening theme. The studio, however, was concerned that viewers would be confused by such an opening.
Evangelion 3.0+1.0 original title
The Japanese title for Evangelion 3.0+1.0 contains a musical repeat sign. While no official meaning for the repeat sign has been announced by Anno or Gainax, fans speculate that the inclusion of such a symbol may indicate either a "repeat" in events or possibly time travel shenanigans. This, however, has been widely considered as extremely unlikely and the inclusion of the symbol is most likely stylistic.
