Ube-Shinkawa Station

Ube-Shinkawa station is a railway station in Ube, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, which is Hideaki Anno's hometown. It is the setting of the final scene in Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0, where the KuMoHa42 train comes to a halt (like in real life). Shinji and Mari, now adults, sit on one of the benches on a platform while Kaworu, Rei, and Asuka Shikinami Langley, similarly grown up, are seen on the platform opposite behind the train. Both Shinji and Mari run hand-in-hand out of Ube-Shinkawa station into a digitally embellished but very recognizable version of the city of Ube.
