[[Shinji Ikari]] finally meets the mysterious [[Rei Ayanami]] as she is transferred to his school. [[Rei Ayanami]] was involved in a series of activation tests on [[Eva-00]] but, unfortunately, all of them so far have failed. Once again, [[Eva-00]] goes berserk, and during the event, Rei's Entry Plug is automatically ejected out of the Eva; despite being protected from danger, she is still injured by the Entry Plug-to-Wall impacts. Meanwhile, a new [[Angel]] suddenly appears out of the blue; appearing just after when [[Eva-00]] was successfully activated without any delays/problems. The new [[Angel]] is the flying [[Ramiel]]. Armed with just one, extremely destructive weapon, the energy ray beam, she manages to destroy any offensive targets with ease, and commences drilling into the GeoFront, directly to Nerv HQ. Nerv is forced to avoid close range combat, because the destructive ray beam is too much for an Eva to sustain. Instead, [[Misato Katsuragi]], the Director of Tactical Operations with Evangelions, comes up with an ingenious plan which consists of assembling the Experimental Prototype Positron Sniper Rifle, which its power requirements equal that of Japan's overall power output. Because of this, Misato is forced to delay Japan's electricity grid for a number of hours, in order to destroy the Angel. The operation is becoming more and more possible, and because [[Eva-00]] can now activate without any delays means that Operation Yashima can continue successfully. Eventually, Eva Units 00 and 01 are deployed to the battlefield, on a hill, on a far proximity from the Angel Ramiel. The Positron Sniper has been successfully assembled on time, and is also deployed.

Summary

Shinji Ikari finally meets the mysterious Rei Ayanami as she is transferred to his school. Rei Ayanami was involved in a series of activation tests on Eva-00 but, unfortunately, all of them so far have failed. Once again, Eva-00 goes berserk, and during the event, Rei's Entry Plug is automatically ejected out of the Eva; despite being protected from danger, she is still injured by the Entry Plug-to-Wall impacts. Meanwhile, a new Angel suddenly appears out of the blue; appearing just after when Eva-00 was successfully activated without any delays/problems. The new Angel is the flying Ramiel. Instead, Misato Katsuragi, the Director of Tactical Operations with Evangelions, comes up with an ingenious plan which consists of assembling the Experimental Prototype Positron Sniper Rifle, which its power requirements equal that of Japan's overall power output. Because of this, Misato is forced to delay Japan's electricity grid for a number of hours, in order to destroy the Angel. The operation is becoming more and more possible, and because Eva-00 can now activate without any delays means that Operation Yashima can continue successfully. Eventually, Eva Units 00 and 01 are deployed to the battlefield, on a hill, on a far proximity from the Angel Ramiel. The Positron Sniper has been successfully assembled on time, and is also deployed.

Finally, the timer starts, and all the Power Units and Electricity Substations are powered up to deliver the enormous amount of power required to employ the Positron Rifle. Shinji gets ready to aim, and once the Positron Sniper is ready, he fires his first shot, and at the same time, Ramiel also fires a devastating blow. The two beams intertwine, and are projected off course. Ramiel's shot, however, hits nearby to the Eva's present location, damaging the Surveillance Truck carrying the Technicians, Misato and Ritsuko and stunning Shinji Ikari.

Ikari's second shot, however, takes a direct hit to Ramiel, sending her to her doom. It was an obvious mortal blow, and Ramiel fell slowly to the ground; the drill stopping some mere hundred meters from the base of Nerv HQ.
