Asuka: "Then, that means we're all alone tonight! <3" Shinji: "?" Analysis

sigh I really wish EMF was up right now... So is there not going to an Analysis section about Asuka's extreme flirting and Shinji's not noticing this in the "Misato will be at work all night" to the "This is the Wall of Jericho!" scene? Basically, Asuka seems interested in, uh, doing things with him (just how far is best left up to the viewer's interpretation, I guess), Shinji doesn't pick up on this, so Asuka gets pissed and sleeps in Misato's room. The lights dim in Misato's home, and Asuka complains "How can Japanese sleep on the floor?" before the scene changes.

During the extended mindrape sequence in Episode 22', when Asuka closes the door Misato's room, she's hanging her head dejectedly at the door and actually thinking "You won't do anything!" despite her outwardly complaining about something not related (Can you say defense mechanism?). I thought this would be an important scene to analyze/point out, since it's one of the most important A/S scenes (being referenced in 22' and all) and its something people miss unless somebody point its out to them (what happened with me, for instance.) --Sailor Star Dust 23:07, 25 August 2007 (EDT)

V, I agree with you in terms of Asuka not necessarily wanting something sexual. Personally, I think Asuka just wanted some comfort (especially since she seemed to like Shinji right away); at the most I'd think there'd be some making out/spooning only. After all, by that point, Asuka only knew Shinji for a little over a week or so! O_o And The wanyeiac, cool to know your going to that. We know she wants sex from Kaji (see the first scene in the DC of ep. 22), why would she want anything less from Shinji? It also pays to keep in mind that the most notable thing about the Walls of Jerico is they fell down. Asuka could be projecting, but still...She only just met Shinji and would probably want to know him better before deciding to jump his bones Kaji-style. (Granted, I know you don't need love to have sex, but I'm a romantic at heart. ^_~) And it's curious on weather she sleep-walked or it was a subconscious act that caused the Walls to come a tumbling down in the next scene (seriously, see It Happened One Night). Anyway, the episode analysis will be phrased that she just wants attention/comfort it is then! (After all, there is the T&A section to get into the more speculative things such Asuka wanting sex in said scene and possibly Shinji referring to his right hand as Asuka since episode 09 (lol the "Always" in Asuka's EoE "Side-dish? Remember that she was shit faced drunk more than a little tipsy when she came on to Kaji and she openly likes Kaji, while she's not fond of Shinji openly. So I don't think demanding sex of Kaji equates to hoping for sex from Shinji. --V 16:28, 27 August 2007 (EDT)

Agreed, especially because of the fact she wasn't openly fond of Shinji. ...So, is there any evidence that Asuka drinks while in Japan? (Random trivia for her page if that's the case!) After all, she drank on that ship, drank a can of something at Misato's place, and was in the alcohol section of that store with the open freezer... I refined the reference in a way that should satisfy everyone. The way it was stated sounded too certain that she was just after comfort. So I changed it to "it is unclear whether Asuka just wants some attention and comfort, or if she wants something beyond that."
