"''It seems to be several times larger than an Evangelion, based on its size relative to the Spear of Longinus''": This might be deceptive. I did an estimation of Arael's size, and the central body doesn't seem like it would be terribly overwhelming; Arael would be "mostly wing". - "However, the Spear also escaped Earth's gravitational pull and entered lunar orbit, ultimately landing on the Moon": Where does "landing on the moon" come from? In the episode they just say it reached escape velocity (or something similar).--Nomis1242 14:11, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

- "It appears to have a mask similar to that of the Angel Sachiel": I don't think Arael has a "mask" so much as a head shaped kind of like a bird's.
- "Arael then targeted Asuka in Eva-02 with a special beam which psychically attacked Asuka.": Intimations are that Eva-02 was targeted first. "LCL barrier not working", "Don't allow feedback from Eva." And, as we see, Kyoko's soul "shut itself away" after this. From Arael's POV, there was just an Eva down there; she couldn't have feasibly found out about Asuka until after hacking Kyoko.
- "Arael "mind-raped" Asuka, forcibly replaying traumatic childhood memories in her mind to the point that she was incapacitated." If we're going to take Arael's "POV" here, it might be more accurate to say that Arael was simply exploring Asuka's mind in a completely innocuous way, and Asuka's reaction was due to the fact that Arael was "opening up doors" to "rooms" Asuka had intentionally shut all sorts of bad stuff away in.
- "[Gendo Ikari was] unwilling to use Eva-01 against the Angel for fear that Shinji's mind would be compromised as well": Actually, I think he was more worried about the Eva. ::p

- I punched it up a bit: only real issue to me is, "was it mind-raping Asuka or just probing the mind of a disturbed person with memories best not remembered?" i.e "was it really that hostile or intelligent?". We're not really too sure, but I think it was trying to actually attack her. I mean it wasn't seen to be probing other memories of Asuka that weren't upsetting. --V 19:43, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
- That's an interesting point. Still, was Arael really being discriminatory, or would Asuka have "noticed" that "pleasant memories" were being probed even if Arael was doing so? We did see some "replays" of neutralistic things in there, but they were all thrown into a 'traumatic' context: i.e., in the "no, this isn't me!" segment. When Asuka's defenses are down, is anything that seemed alright at the time really pleasant at all?

- For my part, I doubt that Arael was truly malicious in intent. Listen to Ritsuko: "It's as if this light is probing Asuka's psychological wavelength. Could it be that the Angel is trying to learn about the human mind?!" I think it was probably a naive, child-like curiosity.
- An idea of mine is that Asuka actually does encounter Arael at the end in a similar way that Rei encounters Armisael: Arael appears to Asuka as a mirror of herself (in this case, a younger Asuka) and the subject of "loneliness" comes up. "Are you lonely? .......... Liar." The child-Asuka's head becomes that of the doll, and she has a leer on her face, not unlike Armisael when she tells Rei that loneliness is "your own heart". But anyway. --Reichu 22:32, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
- Remember that when we have Analysis of that episode. --V 22:38, 18 August 2007 (EDT)

Size
"It seems to be several times larger than an Evangelion, based on its size relative to the Spear of Longinus": This might be deceptive. I did an estimation of Arael's size, and the central body doesn't seem like it would be terribly overwhelming; Arael would be "mostly wing". Mah chart. (Arael may actually be too big there. I need to revise that thing someday...) --Reichu 12:19, 31 August 2007 (EDT)
