As it is, we don't hear about the Angel's orbital bombardment after this. Dr. Nick: Setting aside the probable retcons relating to Angel motivations, Sahaquiel is rather unique personality-wise as it seemingly wishes to deny humanity access to a progenitor entity even at the cost of its own life. Assuming Gendo hasn't yet grafted the Adam embryo onto his hand and is keeping it in a safe in Tokyo-3 as an Angel bait, Sahaquiel could have theoretically vaporized Adam's body, Lilith's body and Lilith's soul container all at once. Of course, in the very next episode Ireul tries to blow up the headquarters as well, but it's unclear to me whether that would've been a legit suicide attack.
