UrsusArctos: Asuka appears to have attained a sort of self-realization here, and what she says is true - as the person who tied her identity and sense of self most strongly to being an Eva pilot, she was the one suffered the most when she failed to do her job. As an aside, the shots in the background are all from familiar scenes, but a number of them nevertheless look off one way or the other.
