dzzthink: How the spotlights illuminate the characters in this scene, brings out an interesting shade and contrast that suits Asuka's conversation with Rei. It seems to suggest the dichotomy of their personalities and their hidden feelings. Asuka's arrogance does seem to be a front to hide her own insecurities as an Eva pilot, which Rei points out. As in the Bible: 'Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.' Luke 12:3
