POV Problems

I've come to the strong conclusion that this article too strongly reflects a particular school of thought on the Angels at the exclusion of alternative interpretations. I guess it's only natural that our biases come through in our writing, but in a place like this we must take steps to minimize them~! (I'm positive that many other articles have this same problem, but these sorts of concessions take time if they're not forcibly brought to my attention. :3 )

For one thing, I realized that the idea that the Angels represent a single race, while quite appealing to me, is probably not a universal truth by any means. The same words that Misato says in #25' could be just as easily interpreted to mean that the Angels are multiple humanities and other possibilitIES, and this would reconcile with the common sentiment that each is a unique "kind" that activates and functions independently of all the others.

For another thing... well, I forget right now, so let's start with that. I could use some suggestions regarding how to make this article less biased.

BTW, I'm putting off on the merge for the moment, while I poke at the current "Angel" article content. --Reichu 18:08, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Merging

Should this be merged back into the main Angel article? --Reichu 19:04, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

Anyone? --Reichu 11:18, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, the main article looks way too stubby without this material. --thewayneiac 17:08 EDT. April 23, 2010

I have edited the Motivations and Psychology section for the recent translation change (see this thread). Are we treating CI as canon, so should the section be changed to just quote the CI as gospel? Also, I think there is messy overlap with the main Angel article (eg blood type). IMHO either the pages should a) be merged or b) "Angel" should just discuss whether Adam, Lilith, Kowaru and the Liln are angels and then the "Adam's Children" page goes into detail about Sachiel to Armisael --Nomis1242 14:00, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Yes, this should most likely be merged back into the main Angel article. I must have been low on one of my meds when I split them in the first place... Regarding CI, the wiki treats it "like gospel" provided it doesn't contradict anything, although utilizing the ref tags to point out the source of this information -- for people who wander in and wonder "WTF?", and to cover our asses in general -- is a good idea. --Reichu 02:42, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, Reichu. Could you please do the merge? I'm sure I'd break it!--Nomis1242 07:09, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Both articles are a mess, so merging will probably entail a lot of restructuring and rewriting. I don't mind being the responsible party, but this may be something I'll have to do in gradual increments. --Reichu 07:44, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

I'm having a crack at merging, feel free to revert if I make an even bigger mess! I consider this page to be an introduction to many topics, so IMHO a lot of it will be a brief summary and then a link to the page where it is discussed in detail. Here's what has hasn't made it across to the Angels page and why: - Tabris' creation is replaced with a link to the Tabris page (where it can be better dealt with in-depth) - the "common characteristics" grouping has been removed, because there doesn't seem any fundamental difference between the headings that were under it and the other headings in the Angels article - "Regeneration" section has been merged into "S2 Engine" since the S2 engine is at the heart of regeneration. Once the main "Angels" article is in a decent state, this one can be deleted.

Storage

Pulled this off the main Angel page and it goes here somewhere, but I don't feel like working it in right now:

Shinji openly asks Asuka what the Angels are and why they are fighting them, and she retorts that they don't know, but they still have to defend themselves against the Angels by fighting them. It is not that the series does not clearly explain why the Angels are attacking or what their motivations are, it is an intentional secret. Although some information about why Nerv is fighting the Angels and where they ultimately come from is given later in the series, more specific information about the Angels is often lacking; they remain fairly enigmatic throughout the series.
