Second Impression (aka 2nd Impression) is a 1997 video game for the Sega Saturn. The plot features a new student in Shinji's class, Mayumi Yamagishi, a bookworm and good student, and Shinji's attempts to overcome his shyness and become her friend. The gameplay allows you to choose what to say to Mayumi and other students, sing karaoke (two original songs are included in the game), and whatnot. A new angel, meanwhile, the Insubstantial Angel, attacks Tokyo-3. It turns out that, somehow, the core of the angel is *inside* Mayumi, who attempts to commit suicide in the game's final scene.

The character design of Mari, the new character in Rebuild 2.0, resembles Mayumi insofar as they are both brunettes with glasses.

Merchandise

The Saturn game came with an extra mini-cd containing the two theme song tracks, "Get it on! Doppelganger" (sung by Asuka) and "You are your own reason" (sung by Mayumi). A book, 2nd Impression Bible, was published by Newtype and features screenshots, commentary by the production staff, sheet music to the new songs, etc.
