ASUKA:“No!”

184B

185

ASUKA:“Don't look inside my mind!”

186

ASUKA:“Please! Don't dig deeper into my heart!”

187

MISATO:“Asuka!”

UrsusArctos: Straight from Episode 16 Cut 115. Yet again, the QUALITY ruins what should be a very powerful moment.

188

IBUKI (OFF):“Her psychograph readings are at their limit!”

189

RITSUKO:“Her mental circuits are being torn to shreds. It'll be too dangerous if they're overloaded any more.”

190

MISATO:“Asuka, come back!”

191

ASUKA:“No!”

MISATO (RADIO - OFF):“That's an order! Asuka, retreat!”

ASUKA:“No! Never!”

192

ASUKA:“I'd rather die here than go back now!”

Mr. Tines: Suicide by Angel

193

MISATO:“Asuka!”

194

MAN (OFF):“Accelerator being aligned.”

WOMAN (OFF):“voltage increasing, approaching pressurization.”

Dr. Nick: Yeah, Nerv just straight up kept SSDF's prized positron rifle from episode 8. But since it's only drawing power from whatever energy sources Tokyo-3 has, the beam doesn't punch through.

UrsusArctos: This rifle seems to be a different version of the same weapon, with a drum-shaped object sitting where the SSDF's positron rifle sucked in beams of energy from an unknown source, Death Star-style.

195

MAN (OFF):“Forced convergence, activated.”

WOMAN (OFF):“Adjusting zero point zero three for Earth's rotation and gravity.”

MAN (OFF):“Superconductive guidance system in operation.”

MAN (OFF):“Chamber at maximum pressure.”

196

HYUGA (OFF):“Final safety released!”

HYUGA (OFF):“Everything in launch position!”

WOMAN (OFF):“Release confirmed.”

197

201

UrsusArctos: This is an ugly, off-model shot, and even the A.T. Field's shape is wrong (hexagonal rather than the proper octagonal)

202

AOBA:“It's no good!”

203

AOBA:“The power level is far too low to penetrate the AT Field at this range!”

204

HYUGA:“But output is at maximum! Anything more is...”

205

IBUKI (OFF):“Unit 02, psychograph readings are growing weaker!”

206

RITSUKO:“What about the LCL's psychological barrier?!”

IBUKI:“It's no use. It's not even working as a catalyst!”

207

RITSUKO:“Prioritize life support. Shut out the feedback from the Eva.”

208

IBUKI:“Yes, Ma'am.”

209

210

RITSUKO (MONO):“It's as if this light is probing Asuka's psychological wavelength.”

211

RITSUKO (MONO):“Could it be that the Angel is trying to learn about the human mind?!”

UrsusArctos: Evangelion is a show that runs off the difficulty in human communication, and given that the Angels are alternate possibilities for human existence, this would seem to be the intention. Whether Arael would have succeeded in communicating with a mentally healthy individual is an open question.
