RITSUKO:“Give me the wrench.”

MISATO:“Doesn't this remind you of our college days?”

RITSUKO:“Board number twenty-five.”

248

MISATO:“Hey, tell me a little about the Magi.”

RITSUKO (OFF):“It's a long story. And not a very interesting one, at that.”

249

RITSUKO (OFF):“Do you know about personality transplant OS?”

250

MISATO (OFF):“Yes, it's a system that implants an individual's personality into a seventh generation organic computer so it can think.”

251

MISATO:“It's the same technology used for operating the Evas, right?”

RITSUKO:“I've heard Magi was the first of them.”

UrsusArctos: Wrong as usual, Misato. (Notice that Ritsuko doesn't actually give her an answer)

252

RITSUKO:“My mother”

253

RITSUKO (OFF):“developed the technology.”

254

MISATO:“So, it was her personality that was implanted?”

255

RITSUKO:“Right.”

256

257

258

RITSUKO (OFF):“In a very real sense,”

259

RITSUKO (OFF):“this is my mother's brain.”

UrsusArctos: That's too large to be an actual human brain and no brain can stay preserved in a metal case like that, so it's definitely synthetic. (Curious what the scene description says) The idea that it's actually Naoko's brain, scooped out of her dead body, is just a misconception.

dzzthink: I'm curious how they managed to upload her personality at all into a machine. Before there was the matrix, this concept of the brain in a vat seems to be brought up in Evangelion. The method of destroying the Angel is also similar to the ending of Matrix 3 and Agent Smith.

260

MISATO:“Is that why you wanted to protect the Magi?”

261

RITSUKO:“I don't think so. I didn't really like my mother that much.”

262

RITSUKO (OFF):“This was a decision as a scientist.”

263

HYUGA (OFF):“There it is!”
