MISATO:“It's all ancient history for both of us.
We shouldn't let it bother us.”
UrsusArctos: The sunset visually prefigures the credits of Death, and the unusually broad expanse of water in front of them prefigures Kaworu's appearance at an eerily similar scene, bringing back a haunting reminder of Misato's ancient history (her father, from whom Kaworu gets his appearance). This scene, and her words, are loaded with both irony and foreshadowing in a way that only Evangelion can pull off.
Zusuchan: Speaking about Death, I'd just like to quickly say that I consider it, despite being a simple recap movie, pretty worthwhile, because its way of recapping Eva by simply rehashing a bunch of associations and aesthetics and intentionally paring everything down to the minimum required to get the point across is quite refreshing for a franchise film.
