First Lieutenant Maya Ibuki is one of the three main computer technicians at NERV HQ, along with Makoto Hyuga and Shigeru Aoba, and serves directly under Dr. Ritsuko Akagi.

Maya often gets nausseous during particularly disturbing battles against the Angels.

Maya screams "Sempai!" ecstatically during Third Impact when Rei/Lilith appears to her as Ritsuko, which may imply that she was secretly in love with Ritsuko. While it has never been confirmed if she was a lesbian, Maya was also extremely uncomfortable when Kaji flirted with her.
