Geofront

"GeoFront" is the publicly used term to describe a massive subterranean cavity, specifically the GeoFront underneath Tokyo-3 (site of pre-Second Impact Hakone). However, unknown to the public is that the GeoFront is actually not a naturally occurring structure, but the "Black Moon" of the Angel Lilith. Also unrevealed to the public was that there was actually another GeoFront discovered in Antarctica, identical to the first: the "White Moon" of Lilith.

The GeoFront in Antarctica was referred to in classified United Nations files as "GF-01", presumably for "GeoFront-01". It is not clear if that means that the GeoFront under Tokyo-3 was "GeoFront-02", or if, as the Evangelion Units were numbered starting with "Unit 00", the GeoFront under Tokyo-3 was discovered before the one in Antarctica, and codenamed "GeoFront-00". In either case, as the existence of the Antarctica-GeoFront was kept entirely secret from the world, the term "GeoFront-01" was never publicly used, and the Japan-GeoFront was known simply as "the GeoFront".

• "GeoFront" is a real-life term, an English word which was made in Japan. It means "underground space which the people can use for living, manufacturing, etc." Because Japan is small and has overcrowding issues, research into the development of underground living and work space has been studied there.
