Space Runaway Ideon (伝説巨神イデオン) was a series that aired in May 8th, 1980, and created by the reknown Yoshiyuki Tomino. Similar to Neon Genesis Evangelion, there was a movie that provided an alternate ending to the TV Series and a recap movie. There were several homages to Ideon in Evangelion and Hideaki Anno is said to see Ideon as an important influence.
