Talk:N² Weapon
(Redirected from Talk:N² weapon)
I want to move this to "N² bombs" (I don't know if "Mine" or "Bomb" should be capitalized). I have no idea why ADV Films English dub went with "N2 Mine" when the word "heiki" can mean either thing, and they really are more "bombs" than mines. --V 09:47, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- Should be "N^2 weapons". "Bombs" are a type of N^2 weapn. Want I should pull the list of N^2 weapons out? --Reichu 09:52, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- Well okay. But aren't they just "N2 Bombs" and "Aerial N2 Bombs"?--V
- N² 兵器 (heiki) = N² weapon. It encompasses a few different types. Looking at Chronicle here...
- N²爆弾 (bakudan) = N² bomb. Used on Zeruel, along with the Geofront in 25'.
- N²爆雷 (bakurai) = N² depth charge. Used on Israfel.
- N²地雷 (jirai) = N² (land) mine. Used on Sachiel.
- N²航空兵器 (koukuu heiki) = N² aerial weapon. Used on Sahaquiel.
- N² 兵器 (heiki) = N² weapon. It encompasses a few different types. Looking at Chronicle here...
- Ergo, must call the article "N² weapon(s)". --Reichu 13:36, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- I want the input of everyone else on this because its such a pervasive term: should we use "N2 Bomb"? I think it sounds more specific than "N2 Weapon", which is more awkward, and I don't think that....well when will this Chronicle sourcing be done? Does Chronicle directly say "they're actually N2 Weapons, of which "N2 Bombs" and "N2 depth charges" are sub-variants? I mean in the script it says they just used an "N2 Mine" (or bomb), same as for Zeruel. Because Israfel was standing at the water's edge...why use a "depth charge"? Other people's thoughts? --V 17:06, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- The above stuff was from the 4-page entry on "N2 weapons", in the part where it described the four different types (which I reproduced for you kanji by kanji). On another page, it had a big breakdown of when and how they were used. I can scan Chronicle for you or reproduce this information from the other things I have lying around, if you really think it's an efficient use of my time...
- Though I did double-check on Israfel. "Bakurai", indeed. --Reichu 20:15, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- Oh, "everything's okay if you have a source". Hmmm....please create at least a placeholder article for the Eva Chronicle info stuff Reichu, because it seems a boon of officially released info but in the time it would take to explain to me exactly what it is, you could just write an article about it (which I could then read). I still think aesthetically we should keep "N2 Bomb" though....--V 21:28, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
- I just flipped through my scripts. The individual weapons are all mentioned by those specific names (land mine, depth charge, aerial weapon, and bomb), and the general term "N2 weapon" is used by Hyuga in EoE. This information isn't exclusive to Chronicle or anything. (I'd actually seen the list of types on some Japanese page long before I bought Chronicle.)
- The article cannot be called "N2 Bomb", since the N2 Bomb is one of the four types, not something that encompasses all of them. ("There are four types of N2 bombs. One of them is the N2 bomb.") This doesn't have anything to do with "aesthetics". --Reichu 13:12, 21 August 2007 (EDT)
- Ok all of that further evidence from the scripts seems to back it up then. Btw, should "N2 Mine" and "N2 Bomb" have "Mine" and "Bomb" capitalized?--V 13:50, 21 August 2007 (EDT)
- No. We don't write Nuclear Bomb. --Reichu 14:15, 21 August 2007 (EDT)
