Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water(ふしぎの海のナディア, Fushigi no Umi no Nadia - "Nadia of the Mysterious Seas") is a 1990-91 Anime that was directed by Hideaki Anno and very loosely based upon Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea. More information can be found at Wikipedia. It is notable because the visual design, themes and ideas begin to resemble those of Evangelion, and it was the last major work by Anno before Evangelion aired. In addition, the main character Nadia has character traits that can be identified with Shinji, Asuka and Rei, and her own frosty relationship with her father bears some resemblance to Shinji's broken relationship with Gendo.
