Update?

Is this page being/should this page eventually be updated with more EMF/EGF-isms? One phrase instantly comes to mind is "SFAiBL", lol. --Sailor Star Dust 18:16, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Sharpening the Axe

I'm fairly insistent on slicing this thing down (before it gets built back up somewhat), so let's get started. Hopefully, people in addition to poor Wayne here will pitch in with comments. (looks around slowly with big owl eyes)

Note that I am operating under the thought-process that the future articles on "Fandom"-related issues will be written in an informal style (because it wouldn't be any fun otherwise).

  • Addition Drama Track: We'll have a local page on the Addition CD that can provide coverage.
  • ADV: There is probably a better place for this stuff.
  • Akira: My impression is that this is a forced Reichu-meme of no actual significance.
  • AMV: This would get an article in "Fandom". It was a lame entry anyway.
  • ANF: Split off to a "Fandom" article on online NGE communities.
  • Angel Tower: While this thing is a noteworthy observation, does anyone ever actually call it "Angel Tower"?
  • Angelic Days: Not needed, unless people think that "Every time you say Angelic Days..." thing is actually funny.
  • Apostle: No one uses it. Axe.
  • Bridge Entity: Ditto.
  • DotS: Stays, but receives a Critical Update.
  • EGK: The EoE redesign bit comes up often enough (probably in part due to this entry...) to warrant keeping it, but I'm worried about the actual acronym, which nobody really seems to use.
  • EMF: See ANF.
  • F-Type Equipment: This one seems forced.
  • FAR: They have an article. Axe.
  • Food Court: Relocate to "Fan Parodies" article.
  • Gender: Gender of Angels stuff reworked into a Random Chaos page. Seed/Eva shit eventually reworked into horrifying T&A articles (with the help of this ginormous document Ornette compiled a while back). It might be mentioned that the Gender/Sex of Non-Lilim Persons has had a tradition of coming up (though it hasn't done so in a while) in forum threads, usually to the effect that most people don't give a shit.
  • GGNR: Not used. Axe.
  • GOS: Since this thing will have a dedicated article now, why does it need a Geektionary entry, too? (Other than to mock it, and all.)
  • -gouki: Probably should stay.
  • Herr Lorenz: Never used. Axe.
  • GSF: Too old for anyone to care anymore.
  • HIP: Something for an etymology subheading of the relevant article.
  • Live Action Sequence: Would have its own article or something.
  • LoL: Should probably stay, albeit get refined somewhat.
  • Mandorla: Never used. Axe.
  • MPB: Covered in its article. Axe.
  • MGNR: I can't even recall the last time I saw this one. It probably shouldn't stay, though.
  • Mogitai: Doesn't show up in Weeaboo-speek (unlike the -gouki stuff). Axe.
  • N^2: Axe for obvious reasons.

Well, that's a start. --Reichu 16:14, 22 August 2007 (EDT)

Progress: ADT - pending. ADV - pending. Akira: moved to cool new page in random section. AMV - moved to own page. ANF - now on online comunities page. Angelic Days/Love Eva - kept but provided link to regular article. Apostle - deleted, covered in the regular Angel article. Bridge entity - gone. EMF - now on online communities page. F-Type equipement - moved to NGE2 page. FAR - gone, already has regular article. Food Court - pending. Gender - pending. GOS - kept for sarcastic attitude but added link to regular article. HIP - pending. Live action Sequence - pending. --thewayneiac Aug. 23, 2007 17:44 EDT.

More progress: zapped GGNR - not needed, Mandorla - not needed, MPB - has regular article, MGNR - not needed, Mogitai - has own article, N2 - has own article. --thewayneiac Aug. 23, 2007 19:54 EDT.

Worthless input:
  • Angel Tower: it might get used in the Commentary, at least. Is there an official name for it?
  • DotS: What stays here, what goes to "Radioactive Waste"?
  • F-type eq: weapons category, subpage for AU-weapons?
  • Gender: Oh man, I won't even touch that!
  • GOS: we want to mock it somewhere. Same thing with the localization crew, Greenfield etc.
  • MGNR: I thought it was funny. Might come up once the Commentary reaches the relevant ep.
  • Nissan: to Random image crap.
  • n00b: not fashionable anymore, leet is so 2005.
  • Seele Dudes: I'd like to keep them somewhere. Same thing with those Angel genders we "decided".
  • Rei-tachi: http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/1974/gendoweeabooed1.jpg
  • RIAO, RNR: these are funny, IMO, even if not necessary.
  • Troll: perhaps a more generalized entry?
  • Gender neutral pronouns: do we have a guideline, are we gonna use these in the Commentary?
--Dr. Nick 13:35, 24 August 2007 (EDT)
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
  • Angel Tower: No official designation, to my knowledge. Not that I've done much looking...
  • DotS: I moved the whole thing to RW and updated it. There can be a redirect link, potentially.
  • F-Type: An article (okay, stub) on "Evangelion equipment" is pending, but "F-Type" would be thrown in there as non-canonical (underneath everything else).
  • Gender: I have some ideas on what to do with this bastard.
    • GNPs: These can be used at people's own discretion in the "geeky stuff where you're credited by name for what you say". The entry can stay here for lack of anywhere better.
    • Angel genders: Adaptation goes into "Random". (But all Eva/Seed-specific crap goes into T&A Hell.)
  • GOS, etc.: Might be better suited for "Random"? "Girlfriend of Steel in a Nutshell", or something.
  • Localization Companies/Crew: Not sure how to handle "friendly mockery" / criticism at this time.
  • MGNR, RNR: I have no strong feelings one way or the other.
  • Nissan, noob, Rei-tachi: Agreed.
  • RIAO: I actually spotted this one recently.
  • Seele Dudes: They can stay.
  • Troll: Perhaps the best approach would be to have stuff in Random, "The Best of Fuzzy Chickens" and likewise for RahOtaku. Have Ornette fish through the Archives for any "good" (= BAD) material, and some poor soul can compile it for the "enjoyment" of the masses. (I'd be awfully tempted to include some of Zuggy's insane rants, too, but he's been remarkably well-behaved lately...) --Reichu 14:28, 24 August 2007 (EDT)
The rest of my thoughts:
  • LnY: Nuke.
  • NGE2: Has its own article. I might deal with the integration myself.
  • NPC: Not sure... I'm responsible for the misconception over what this term actually means, so the Truth needs to come out somewhere. The real "new production cuts" are relevant to what we now collectively refer to as the DC episodes, so perhaps the explanation could go there, with the acronym guide providing a linky.
  • Nucleola: No one seems to use this. Then again, no one seems to ever talk about Yui's little thingies, either.
  • Platinum: Pages will be furnished pertaining to the various releases.
  • Platinum Special Features: ...perhaps this could be gradually expanded into a Random page, "Group Review of Platinum Special Features" or suchlike. Would be even better if we all suffered every millimeter of the special features, and could thus go into especially well-educated depth on how truly horrible they are. (This could possibly be a "Commentary Sideshow Feature" that people could contribute to "the usual way". I have... ideas.)
  • ReDeath: Assimilated into Fan parodies.
  • Redmond: Does he matter enough to warrant so much space?
  • REGK: Axe.
  • S2: Not needed.
  • Sammael: Uhhhhhh... Ten yen for your thoughts.
  • Shekinah: Mr. Tines occasionally uses, but overall nobody seems to care.
  • Shipping: Split off into its own article.
  • SoL: Not needed.
  • Theatrical Program Books: Theatrical program books is fine too.
  • Thumbnail Theatre: Assimilated into Fan parodies.
  • Transration: Does anyone actually care?
  • T-RIDEN-T: Will get moved to / adapted for some other article. Should they get their own?
  • UBF: Only person I've seen use it anytime within span of memory retrieval is Tines.
Okay, I think I'm through. --Reichu 14:28, 24 August 2007 (EDT)

Strikethrough

Do you save after every change you make or something, Wayne? ;;p

BTW, you do strikethrough like this er, <s>like this</s>. --Reichu 15:08, 22 August 2007 (EDT)

In a really long article it's easier to edit by the section than to edit the whole page. If this were something short like an episode page I'd do all the changes at once. Thanks for the strikethrough tip. --thewayneiac Aug. 22, 2007 15:20 EDT.
"No problemo". --Reichu 16:14, 22 August 2007 (EDT)

Initial Bout

Is there some way to tell this article's size? Will we have to spread it over multiple pages? --the wayneiac Aug. 14, 2007. 16:06 EDT.

Kudos on your initiative, Wayne. ^_^ v
I've actually been thinking that the Geektionary shouldn't survive the transition to MediaWiki intact. I was planning on splitting out the "actual information" to the relevant places, and there would be pages listing memes/lingo/acronyms, fan parodies, "significant personalities", and so forth. Releases and other officialities get their own pages, as well. A number of insignificant Reichu-isms would die in the transition, like "Akira" (unless someone actually wants that to stay), "Apostle", "Bridge Entity", "Mandorla", etc. (although "Fem-Kaworu" would need to be put back in after all...). We can use this opportunity to begin The Butcherings and the Revisions. Forum thread might be better at the moment. --Reichu 16:31, 14 August 2007 (EDT)

Has a picture of the Angel Tower been uploaded yet? I should probably link to a pic here rather than to the one on the old site. --thewayneiac Aug. 21, 2007 19:59 EDT.

It hath been done.
BTW, since the Geektionary seems to need to be broken down into subpages, the main page should be the branch-off point, i.e., it links to the sub-pages, instead of being Part 1 with a link to Part 2 at the end.
When should we start the butchering? (Gendo leer) --Reichu 20:40, 21 August 2007 (EDT)

Good idea. I'll put links to all the sections in each section tomorrow. Thanks for the pic. As for butchering, I'll look it over and see what seems normal enough to move to regular articles. Most of it, however, seems esoteric enough to stay right where it is. We can always link to the Geektionary when neccessary. --thewayneiac Aug. 21, 2007 21:05 EDT.

The Hard Work is Over

This thing still needs a little work, but it's essentially done. (Someone needs to do real articles on Addition Drama Track and ADV so I can delete their Geektionary entries.) --thewayneiac Sept. 04, 2007. 17:10 EDT.

Bridge Bunnies

I moved the contents of the Bridge Bunnies page here in place what was already here. The page has been deleted.
