Eva-03's Soul

The Eva2 video game (PSP version only) confirms that Toji's mother is within Eva-03 during his scenario. And of course in-series, there's Ritsuko's "child whose core can be prepared immediately" line. With the updated EML link, I think Tsuramaki was just remembering wrong, (similar to certain things that Hiroyuki Yamaga has stated in the past). Or maybe Tsuramaki somehow misunderstood how souls worked in Eva-verse. (EG: He somehow assumed Episode 17/18 was somehow giving "hints" that part of Rei's soul was there due to Dummy Plug issues/Rei's concern over Toji.) *Shrug* Oh: and whatever happened to the soul speculation being on their own separate pages? --Sailor Star Dust 05:51, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Eva-03 General editing talk

I propose putting all the soul speculation on one page. The page "Soul of Eva-00" could be made "Evangelion Resident Souls". That way, we could have speculation on Eva-00 as well as Eva-03 and other Evas (harpies, for instance) so clutter like that on this page could be avoided. --UrsusArctos 08:15, 21 March 2009 (PDT)

The Eva-00 soul issue is big and specific enough to deserve its own page. This is a more "general" thing, IMO, plus it involves the whole "mothers and children who've lost their mothers" thing where Rei and Eva-00 do not. --Reichu 22:11, 23 March 2009 (PDT)

Ursus, I see you modifying "she"s to "it"s. Was that policy ever officially changed, though...? If you did it because "Bardiel =/= Eva-03", well, Bardi IS using her body, and this is Eva-03's article, so, for simplicity's sake...

Bardiel is officially compared to a "fungus", as well, not "mucus". I can provide a citation for this later. --Reichu 22:41, 12 April 2009 (PDT)

I saw the scene in question. You're right, the growth does appear during the activation test. I suppose I'll let the Eva stay as a "she"...and no, we didn't officially rescind the policy of calling an Eva "she", but I think we changed it to something like "and Eva can be called a she or an it, but don't alternate between two in the same article or part of the article." Thanks for reminding me of that. --UrsusArctos 00:21, 13 April 2009 (PDT)

Analysis Dump

The Eva-03 page had been pretty polished overall, so the "Analysis" dumped off from Episode 18 looked pretty out of place. Consequently, I'm dumping it here so that it can be dealt with more appropriately.

To be honest, the second note is mostly pointless speculation, and more pointed speculation on what Maya meant by "ZOMG DUMMY SYSTEM NO CHIKARA!?!" should go onto the dummy system page. The stuff about Bardiel and the entry plug is more for Bardiel's page, and, even then, worth only a brief mention -- it's a convoluted issue that warrants a T&A page of its own.

---

  • Eva-03 is already in a battle-ready state, according to Ritsuko. How it differs from the previous three Evangelions is not known.
  • Eva-01 under the dummy system breaks Eva-03's neck in seconds (When the Angel-infected eva failed to strangle Eva-01 after a much longer period of time) and destroys the rest of its body seemingly without effort. It is not explicit if Eva-01 is physically more powerful, if Eva-03 is weakened by its mutations, or if the dummy system bestows abnormal power, but Maya's line "Is this the power of the dummy plug?" seems to support the latter.
  • It's possible that the reason Bardiel traps the entry plug is because it is intelligent enough to realize that the the eva might not be able to move without a plug in place.
    • Bardiel may have needed to infect the entry plug (and possibly make contact with Toji) as part of the infection process, and the plug appears to contain part of the Angel's biomass when seen in its wrecked state. This makes it probable that the plug had to be crushed to kill the Angel.
