Wayne, I'm not sure that your latest additions are really appropriate. The synopsis seems overly detailed as is; loading it with Angel-related speculation is probably taking things too far. (I really need to revisit the episode pages with my maintenance templates sometime...) Armisael's page has a section about the ginormous growth, which is a much more appropriate place for speculating about why it formed. Ritsuko and "That Child"

"That child"(Ano ko) and "The Cat"(Neko) died, and tells her "Grandma" on the other end that she will visit her mother's grave, since it has been over three years since she last visited. She ends the conversation with the cryptic statement, "So that child is dead": Um, to me, these words of "Ano Ko" and "Neko" refer to the same thing; Ritsuko's cat dying. Unless somebody thinks it's a reference to Kaji being dead? Any proof to back that up, or should this be changed? --Sailor Star Dust 14:51, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

I always took this to mean simply that her (one) cat had died, her grandmother refers to it as "a child" as a figure of speach/endearment, and that's not actually it's name. We don't know its name. That's all this refers to.--V 15:10, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

Heh. Yes, chances are they're just talking about the cat. However, I have seen speculation that they are talking in code about Kaji. In fact, I've even participated in some of it. It's all supposed to tie into the "cat souvineer" business from Episode 15, where something we don't completely understand is certainly going on. This theory, if correct, would mean that Ritsuko was actively helping her Grandmother spy on Nerv, not very likely in light of her relationship with Gendo. So yes, the reference to the conversation being cryptic should probably be removed. Though perhaps a link to the Episode 15 analysis section would be in order. --thewayneiac Sept. 17, 2007 16:27 EDT.
