Sagisu in his studio

Shiro Sagisu (鷺巣 詩郎) composed the soundtrack for the Evangelion TV series and movies including Rebuild of Evangelion. He had previously worked with Gainax and Hideaki Anno on Nadia: The Secret of Bluewater and Kare Kano. Sagisu also composed the soundtrack for such anime as Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Bleach, Berserk, Gridman and Macross II.

Aside from anime, Sagisu has also composed soundtracks for live-action films such as Casshern and The Restless (Joong-cheon). He also scored Hideaki Anno's Shin Godzilla. His talent was recognized by Japan when he was commissioned to arrange the national anthem, Kimigayo, for the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo.

From 1999, he has independently produced an ongoing set of albums, the Shiro's Songbook series. He is also one-half of MASH, as in Loren and Mash.
