Neon Genesis Evangelion: Battle Orchestra (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン バトルオーケストラ, lit. Shinseiki Evangerion Batoru Ōkesutora) is a fighting video game produced by BROCCOLI. The game features Eva units and Angels from Neon Genesis Evangelion battling each other. The game is a side-scrolling 2D fighting game with fully 3D rendered backgrounds and environments, similar to the Super Smash Bros. games. The Story Mode features individual arcs for Asuka Langley Soryu, Shinji Ikari, Toji Suzuhara, Kensuke Aida, Rei Ayanami and Kaworu Nagisa. Every playable unit can also do two special attacks that unleashes a devastating attack. It was released for PlayStation 2 in June 28, 2007 and for PSP in July 30, 2009.

Gameplay

The game is a 2D side-scroller with characters, sets and environments made in 3D. Rumble mode allows you to face up to three opponents at a time. The PlayStation 2 version allows up to four controllers to be connected while the PlayStation Portable version uses wireless connection. An Endless mode and a Training mode are also available. The Story Mode features six individual arcs for Shinji Ikari, Asuka Langley Sohryu, Toji Suzuhara, Kensuke Aida, Rei Ayanami and Kaworu Nagisa. Each story actually has a different difficulty level and each story has its own ending. In addition to being a reissue of the game on PlayStation Portable, the game offers new content as well as a Missions mode. It consists of a series of 100 different objectives. Most consist of defeating the Angels by completing certain conditions or with particular constraints.
