Evangelion Equipment
Evangelions can apparently be outfitted with several different sets of armor "equipment":
In the Show
- B-Type Equipment - standard Evangelion armor.
- D-Type Equipment - used in Episode 10; a giant diving suit filled with coolant tubes which allows an Eva to be lowered into the magma of an active volcano. Used in conjunction with a pressurized plugsuit for the pilot.
In addition, in Episode 08 it was said that Evas cannot function underwater "with B-Type Equipment", rather than just a blanket statement that "Evas cannot function underwater". This would seem to imply that there is another set of Equipment which does allow an Eva to function underwater; it's not clear if this might be D-Type Equipment, or another, unrevealed set of Equipment for dedicated use underwater.
In other Media
- F-Type Equipment - only seen in manga, resembles ornate (and frankly impractical) samurai armor suit which the Eva wears, sort of copying the ornate styles of armor from other anime series.
- G-Type Equipment- Specialized sniper equipment fitted to Eva-01 in Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0. Used in conjunction with the positron rifle in Operation Yashima.
- S-Type Equipment (Aerial Recon)- Mentioned in the Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0 promotional poster. Eva-02 is seen in the trailer at the end of 1.0 dropping from a flying wing and carrying what looks like a giant jetpack with wings on her back, presumably this piece of equipment.
